QUANTUM PHYSICS; THE NEW HOPE FOR AFRICA

emc

The insights of physics as articulated by Sir Isaac Newton is what laid the necessary intellectual foundation to birth the industrial revolution and every phase of society, including its social structure and its view and attitude to life was effectively defined by the principles and concepts of Newtonian Physics.

Africa today is in dire need of new set of ideas especially new set of thinking tools and intellectual insight that would provide the necessary foundation for its own industrial revolution and growth. The principles of physics as put forward by Isaac newton that served as the necessary intellectual framework upon which the industrial revolution was founded up  is of today been challenged effectively by a new kind of physics known as Quantum Mechanics. The walls of Newtonian physics are gradually and consistently torn down and as the very foundation upon which our current epoch of development is built upon is been literally been yanked off and is effectively been replaced by an altogether different kind of physics which is Quantum Mechanics.

During the days of Sir Isaac Newton and the industrial revolution, Africa was not where to be found a such it found it and still finds it difficult to catch up with the countries that were at the ‘table’, who toyed with and accepted the insights as put forward by Newtonian and they used that as a tool to organize all facets of their domestic society and likewise the global society. Today on the other  hand presents Africa with another rare opportunity, not in terms of growing or expanding its economy but in terms of partaking of the rare opportunity to rearrange the intellectual landscape of all facet of the society and its development. The countries who were fortunate to toy with and accept the idea of Sir Newtonian applying it to all facets of their society and its structure are what we call today the developed nation of world, they are the one whom when it comes to the categorization of nation rank first.

Not every time do we live to witness a revolution of this magnitude that is set to rewrite everything that we thought we know of life in general and likewise completely change every facet of society and its structures. And this is what quantum physics is doing, it is totally reshaping and changing everything we thought we knew and Africa more than any other continent is more positioned to toy with these ideas, accept and run with them. The reason for this is that Africa as a continent is yet to develop a such the somewhat resistance to change that the already developed nation of the world are facing in regards to accepting and rearranging their social structures in line with the insights of quantum mechanics which appears to be totally paradoxically to that presented by Newtonian physics is not present here in Africa because we are yet to develop. Consequently it would be foolish for Africa to adopt the seemingly out-dated social arrangement and intellectual framework from the west just to see it discarded in a few years as the world today is talk about quantum computing, zero transportation and infinite energy, neuroscience, neuro-accounting et al.

Now is the time for Africa to start to use it’s under development to its advantage by introducing and toying with new ideas in the world of physics in the form of quantum physics. As a matter of fact, the current development of the world today in mobile technology, neuroscience and even electronics are all attributes to the insights from quantum physics. The simple truth is whether we like it or not, quantum physics/mechanics is here to stay and it would serve as the next intellectual framework that will determine not only face of all the facets of society but the world at large and this Africa would be at a greater lose if it doesn’t position itself well because I am certain that the next great resource of the world wouldn’t be gold or crude oil rather it will be who can effectively and efficiently generate subatomic particles. It is true that quantum mechanics is filled with a lot of paradox that can be hard to wrap one’s head around but the way I see it, the fact that it is filled with paradoxes is the major reason why we must begin to teach it our young right from secondary school because it would be totally counter-productive to have first taught our young ones about the traditional Newtonian physics and then later on in their university day then teach them about quantum mechanics. It is unproductive because by then they would have been effectively engrained with classical physics.
